We all know recycling as a practice or lifestyle that helps the environment and makes the world a better place. Recycling is popular in Adelaide, but there are some facts about it that many people don't know about. So if you're interested in recycling or would like to know more, keep on reading.
We will be saying 5 facts about recycling you most likely didn't know. Some of these facts will make you fall in love with recycling or strengthen your resolve to recycle.
Most canned drinks, food, and cutlery are made from aluminium which is a type of metal. In fact, aluminium is the most used metal on earth, as wild as this claim may seem. This celebrity metal seems to be immortal since it can be recycled countless times and retain its quality.
Recycled aluminium can continue to be recycled for years to come and made into different things. Now imagine this metal floating in the ocean where it would be doing more harm than good? Recycling helps with putting materials to good use.
Most materials that are used in producing our everyday necessities are gotten from the earth's natural resources. However, the earth's natural resources are depreciating. Why? Because of the sheer amount of resources used in producing things. You'd be surprised at how much resources it would take to even make a pen.
Recycling helps conserve natural resources because they won't be all that necessary when making new items. Instead, we can just use pre-made items to make new things.
You must have seen videos where large bodies of plastic bottles, wraps, bags etc., are floating in the ocean. This happens because plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, so that plastic bottle you throw away will still be existing for hundreds of years to come.
Recycling puts this quality of plastic to good use since it will make many new things.
If you put your mind to it, you can recycle over 10,000 cans! You're probably doubting if you have that many cans in your waste, and the answer is yes. Try this out for a week, count how much canned goods you use, and you'll see it's a lot.
Don't forget to recycle!
It's not only materials that are recycled; kitchen waste can be recycled too! Your food waste can be made into compost that your local Adelaide farmers and gardeners will use to grow their plants!
Recycling lets us put materials and items that we use every day to good use even after using them.
