Amongst the wide range of things we accept for recycling at Thorntons recycling, the most popular are bottles and cans. As you all may or may not know, we accept bottles and cans for recycling. But it can cause some confusion because people assume that it’s all types of bottles and cans we accept, or you can recycle with us.

Unfortunately, we don’t accept just any type of bottles and cans or cans and bottles in any condition. They have to be of a certain type and condition. These are the bottles and cans you can recycle at Thorntons recycling.

Soft Bottles

The only type of bottles that we recycle are soft plastic or, should we say, flexible types that you can bend with your hands. These are the type of bottles that most plastic drinks come in. The bottles we accept also include the types that dishwashing liquid comes in. You may also take the bottles your cosmetic products come in.

Glass bottles such as the ones that wines or spirits come in or steel bottles are also recyclable. Milk bottles can also be brought to our Adelaide recycling depot. You have to remove the cap off every bottle you bring to our recycling depot. The bottles also need to be clean and dirt free.

Cans

Another thing we recycle is cans. We accept soda cans and cans of canned goods. Aerosol cans are also accepted at Thorntons Recycling. One major mistake people make when recycling their cans is not cleaning them- especially the cans of canned food. You should clean them out and make sure they’re clean before taking them to our recycling depot.

You have to clean your recycled cans because they can contaminate the rest of the cans and bottles. You should completely remove the lids off your cans. If the cover of the can is plastic, you should also remove that. Don’t add cans that are already destroyed to the rest of the cans you plan to bring because it can damage the rest.

You should also resist the temptation to crush the cans or bottles. Once you’ve stored enough bottles and cans, you can recycle them. Thorntons recycling offers adequate compensation in exchange for your bottle and can recycling
